DAY 1: Arrival at Lake Orta: Grand Beginning

About Lake Orta
Lake Orta, one of the lesser known lakes in Italy and younger sister to the illustrious Lake Maggiore, is the hidden gem of the Italian Lakes. It is definitely the most serene and intimate of all the lakes. Slow down and savor is our recommendation. The gentle shores of Lake Orta, with the small villages nestled on the hill sides, commanding the lake waters from higher grounds, unfolding as you arrive.

Tonight we make our way to our favorite restaurant in Orta San Giulio where we toast the beginning of our journey together. Our welcome dinner features cuisine paired with delicious regional wines. Lake Orta, nestled in the Piedmont region, offers a taste of Northern Italian cuisine with specialties like risotto, freshwater fish, and local cheeses. We include unlimited premium beverages with your dinners on your Now Journey adventure.

Today we bid farewell to the tranquil embrace of Lake Orta and embark on a scenic journey to the captivating shores of Lake Maggiore. The road unfurls before us, winding through picturesque landscapes where each turn will reveal glimpses of the majestic Alps in the distance. As we approach Stresa, the grandeur of Lake Maggiore unfolds - a shimmering expanse of sapphire blue framed by verdant hills and snow-capped peaks. Stresa itself, nestled along the lakeshore, exudes an air of timeless elegance, its charming streets and Belle Époque architecture promising a delightful exploration for all Now Journey Adventurers.

Welcome Dinner
Tonight join the Tour Captain for a delicious welcome dinner to Stresa. Stresa's cuisine is a delightful blend of Piedmontese flavors, with an emphasis on fresh lake fish like perch and trout, often prepared simply with herbs and lemon. Today's Adventure: Exploring Lake Maggiore
We cross the shimmering waters of Lake Maggiore to Isola Bella. We will delve into the enchanting world of the Borromean Islands, accompanied by our local expert guide who will reveal the secrets and stories behind this picturesque jewel of the lake. Experience the grandeur of Isola Bella's palace and gardens.
The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy beautiful Strea on Lake Maggiore.

Here's our suggestions: Begin your day with a leisurely breakfast on the terrace of the Grand Hotel des Iles Borromee, taking in the panoramic views of Lake Orta and the surrounding mountains. The hotel's breakfast buffet is renowned for its variety and quality, offering everything from fresh pastries and fruit to made-to-order omelets.

Bike/eBike Adventure
Have us organize a bike rental from the hotel and then explore the charming town of Stresa. Cycle along the lakeside promenade, stopping to admire the colorful villas and gardens.

Learn to prepare traditional Italian dishes with a local chef. Classes typically last 3-4 hours and usually includes a market visit, hands-on cooking instruction, and a delicious meal.

Lift up to Mount Mottarone
Take the cable car up to Mount Mottarone for breathtaking views of the surrounding lakes and mountains. At the summit, you can enjoy hiking, picnicking, or simply relaxing and taking in the scenery. The 20-minute cable-car journey on the Funivia Stresa–Mottarone takes you to the Mottarone station at 4,892 ft., from where it's a 15-minute walk or free chairlift (when it's working) up to the summit.

DAY 6: Onward to Lake Como
We journey onward, our path leading us to the enchanting shores of Lake Como. In our sights, the charming town of Bellagio beckons, its picturesque streets and elegant villas promising a delightful respite amidst breathtaking scenery. Upon arrival, we will check in to our hotel, freshen up and then begin our Discovery Walk.

Welcome Dinner
Tonight join the Tour Captain for a delicious dinner from Chef Luigi in Bellagio tonight. We will savor the delicate flavors including meats and fresh lake fish, paired with creamy polenta and crisp local wines. Throughout this region of Lombardy you will enjoy hearty risottos, rich osso buco, and decadent panettone tempt us with their warmth and tradition.

Day 7: Exploring Lake Como 
Today's Adventure: Lago di Como
Today, enjoy a walk through Bellagio and enjoy the sites and learn a bit about the history of the town and the lake with your Tour Captain; Then meet our other Captain on our private boat tour of the lake to view the magnificent villas. Lago di Como is the third largest lake in Italy. At over 1320 feet deep it is one of the deepest lakes in Europe. The lake's name comes from the town of Como. On a clear day the spectacular Alps are visible across the lake.

Day 8: Leisure on the Lake
That's you today! With a full day to discover and relax, the choice is yours. You could head to the gardens in Villa Melzi and take a leisurely walk among exotic plants and delight in the garden's peacefulness. Or you may choose to take a boat to the town of Como on the other side of the lake and discover the cultural heritage, shopping and restaurants this town has to offer.

All good things must come to an end, and today it's time to say goodbye to the stunning landscapes of Lake Como. After a leisurely breakfast, you'll check out from your hotel, but not before taking one last look at the beautiful lake and the mountains that have been your backdrop for the past few days.
But as you leave, whether continuing on your travels, or returning home, you will still be steeped in memories of this most incredible of journeys. The beauty, the discovery, the relaxation, all will continue to be with you; as you leave Lake Como, you will take Lake Como with you.
