From traditional German dishes like currywurst and schnitzel to a thriving street food scene offering global flavors, Berlin's food culture embraces innovation while preserving its roots. DAY 2: EXPERIENCING BERLIN

Today we embark on a captivating historic walking tour of Berlin, where each step unveils the city's rich past. Explore iconic sites such as the remnants of the Berlin Wall, the solemn Holocaust Memorial, and the historic Brandenburg Gate, gaining profound insights into the city's pivotal role in shaping European history. Delve into stories of wartime resilience and Cold War intrigue, immersing yourself in the living history that defines this remarkable European capital. Led by our knowledgeable guide, this immersive experience provides a poignant journey through time, allowing you to absorb the profound historical significance etched into Berlin's streets and landmarks.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy Berlin at leisure.

Here are some optional activities for this afternoon (also if you come in to Berlin one day early!):

Climb to the top of the Reichstag Building
The Reichstag houses the German parliament. You can climb to the top of the dome for a stunning panoramic view of the city. You will need to reserve your access to the Parliament Bulding no later than 45 days prior to the tour. Admission is free but advanced registration is required.

World War II Secrets Sites Tour
Embark on a comprehensive day tour of Berlin, starting at the Reichstag to unravel its history marked by Soviet soldiers' presence in 1945. Explore the historic center, Mitte, with iconic landmarks like the Brandenburg Gate, Soviet War Memorial Tiergarten, and Unter den Linden boulevard, delving into the poignant history of Stolpersteine 'the stumbling stones.' This morning meet our Expert Guide and embark on our walking tour of Prague, starting at the iconic Prague Castle. Begin your day with awe-inspiring views of the city from this historical fortress, then explore the stunning St. Vitus Cathedral and the charming Golden Lane. We'll continue to the Old Town Square, where you'll marvel at the astronomical wonders of the Prague Astronomical Clock and enjoy a visit to the Old Town Hall with its captivating architecture. Conclude the tour at the historic Charles Bridge, connecting the Old Town with the Lesser Town, offering a picturesque view of the Vltava River.

We will return to our hotel by walking with the balance of your day at leisure.

Today, enjoy a complete day at your leisure.

Consider taking a leisurely boat cruise along the Vltava River to witness Prague's landmarks from a unique perspective.

Alternatively, immerse yourself in the rich history of the Jewish Quarter, exploring its synagogues and the poignant Old Jewish Cemetery. For a more relaxed option, indulge in a traditional Czech meal at a riverside restaurant while enjoying the scenic beauty of Prague's architecture.

DAY 6: TO KRAKOW, POLAND

This morning we make our way to Krakow.

DAY 7: EXPERIENCING KRAKOW

Historic Krakow

Sightseeing IconToday's Adventure: Historic Krakow Panoramic Tour

Today join our local expert guide for a walking tour of Krakow including Wawel Hill on the banks of the Vistula River. We will see Wawel Castle, the seat of Polish kings from the 11th to 17th centuries, and enjoy an inside visit of the iconic Wawel Cathedral, Poland's national sanctuary and historic royal coronation site. We'll also learn about Krakow's Jewish Ghetto and its history and the modern renewal of the area.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy "Cracow" at leisure. Perhaps an optional excursion is in order:

Salt Mine Private Tour
This tour provides a private round-trip experience.

Your experience will visit the magnificent chambers, of this continuously functioning mining site since the middle ages, chiseled out in rock salt. See the amazing underground saline lakes, and majestic timber constructions along with unique statues sculpted in salt. There are nearly 2 miles of meandering corridors along with 800 steps (of which 350 have to be descended to reach the depth of 443 feet underground), then return to the surface via elevator. The half-day tour begins and ends in Krakow.

Destination to Salt Mine is about 30 minutes.

World Heritage Site: Auschwitz-Birkenau Experience
This is a moving tour of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial from Kraków with private round-trip transportation. Travel from Kraków to the former Nazi concentration and extermination camp in a private car with a driver. You will see the original features of the camps and personal possessions of deceased prisoners in the museum. You will also be able to visit Kazimierz, Kraków's Jewish Quarter, on the journey back to your accommodation. Entrance fees and refreshments included. Private chauffeur pickup from your hotel.

• Private transportation to Auschwitz-Birkenau with live commentary on board provided by your guide (60 to 90 minutes).
• Private visit to Auschwitz II-Birkenau and the Death Camp with a guide (120 minutes to 2.5 hours).
• Private transportation to Auschwitz I and a guided museum tour with approximately 10-25 people (90 minutes to 2 hours).
• Return to your hotel.

DAY 9: EXPERIENCING BUDAPEST

Today we meet our local expert guide for a driving and walking tour of the city that will include on the Pest side of the Vistula:

• Andrassy Avenue - driving
• Heroes' Square - visit
• State Opera House - driving
• Dohány Synagogue - walking
• St. Stephen's Basilica - walking

Then on the Buda side we will enjoy:

• Walking exploration including Castle Hill, A World Heritage Site featuring Gothic arches, eighteenth-century Baroque houses and cobblestone streets.
•  Trinity Square - walking
•  Matthias Church (Mátyás templom) - walking
•  Fishermen’s Bastion (Halászbástya) - walking

Connected by Széchenyi Chain Bridge, Pest is located on the eastern side of the Danube. The name Pest comes from a Slavic word meaning furnace or oven most likely in reference to a local cave where fire burned.

DAY 10: BUDAPEST DAY AT LEISURE

Today enjoy a day at leisure with several options to consider, all based on season and availability at time of booking.

Budapest Parliament House Tour 
• We will soak in the beauty of this architectural wonder on a night cruise on the Danube, but for those who want to experience it you may optionally enjoy this 90-minute tour. The architectural jewel of Budapest, the Hungarian Parliament Building, is home to the Holy Crown of Hungary. You will get to explore its impressive interior, including stops in the Session Room, the Great Vaulted Hall and at the central staircase. Soak up the history behind the walls of Hungary’s largest building as your guide provides historical and anecdotal commentary. $29 per person, inquire for reservations.
